What We Do

Kalaavidya Foundation is an Austin-based organization dedicated to the promotion and uplifting of Indian classical arts and artists in the local community, as well as building a more tight-knit arts fraternity. We regularly host events featuring artists based in the US such, as well as prominent visiting artists from India. and are a tax-exempt 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We endeavor to put any money raised through our events towards bridging the gap in educational resources and creating a positive impact on the lives of underprivileged young girls in rural and underserved parts of India.

Some of Kalaavidya's initiatives to support the local arts community over the past year have included "Navaratri Kala Utsavam," an annual festival that features locally-based artists of various disciplines in full-length performances and "The Rasa Project," a digital venture that highlights local classical arts events and brings the community together by sharing experiences of local classical arts events. While uplifting the local community of artists, Kalaavidya Foundation also regularly hosts performances by guest artists from India, including Vid. Rama Vaidyanathan, Vid. Sreelakshmy Govardhanan, and Vid. Praveen Kumar and has conducted workshops by the latter two artists.
